Acupuncture is especially effective in relieving pain in the exterior of the body, i.e. at muscle and nerve level.
Chinese Medicine supposes that pain is a reflection that the body’s energy is trapped by a disease process. You will understand this blocked energy as ‘muscle tension’ or a ‘trapped nerve’.
Acupuncture works by needling selected points near to the pain and choosing other points which are known to move and disperse the blocked energy, therefore easing the pain.
Relief should be achieved within 3-4 visits if treatable. Sometimes more are required, but it all depends on how you react to the treatment. At the very least, by the 3rd treatment you should be experiencing a significant change if the therapy is to work for you.
